Areas Available for Internship


MEDICINE AND HEALTHCARE
Medicine- interning in this field would allow you to work with some medical insitutions which are handicapped in terms of resources and personnel. Nursing- taking an internship as a nurse would allow you to shadow and observe qualified medical professionals. Midwifery- interns help provide pre-natal and post-natal care in hospitals and clinics. Dentistry- interns gain experience in dentistry by working in hospitals, clinics and volunteer programs. Public health- interns will gain experience here by working in community health centres Physical therapy - interns will provide support to those in rehabilitation centres Occupational therapy – interns will provide care for patients in rehabilitation centres and facilities for the disabled. Speech therapy- treat patients in rehabilitation centres and facilities . Nutrition- interns will help by distributing food and other nutritional foods to malnourished families identified.
ELECTIVES FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS
The electives here are based on the following areas medicine, nursing, midwifery, dentistry, public health, physical therapy, occupational therapy and nutrition.
LAW AND HUMAN RIGHTS
This area focuses on raising awareness of human rights on areas where it is unknown. It is ideal for law students or a graduate seeking experience in human rights work.
JOURNALISM
Interns here get to work with radio and television stations and learn the day to day activities in the running of the broadcasting stations.
MICROFINANCE
Interns here get to help people find ways of alleviating poverty by supporting them to establish themselves.
INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Interns here get to work with development organizations and NGOs to help provide support to problems affecting individuals as well as communities.
BUSINESS
Interns get to work in the fields of marketing, business, administration, finance, tourism in companies and NGOs.
VET MEDICINE AND ANIMAL CARE
Interns get to assist vet officers and staff at clinics with the treatment and care of animals especially feeding, cleaning and behavior observation.
JUST FOR TEENS: HIGH SCHOOL SPECIALS
This is a program ideal for college students interested in making the most of their spring break by volunteering abroad.
JUST FOR GAP YEARS: GLOBAL GAP
This is specially designed for high school graduates taking a year off before university. Volunteers will work directly with the local staff on issues pertaining to education, human rights etc in developing countries.
UNIVERSITY STUDENTS: ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK:
This is a program ideal for college students interested in making the most of their spring break by volunteering abroad.
JUST FOR PROFESSIONALS
This is a program specially designed for professionals in any field who would like to lend their helping hand to developing countries. This may be in the areas of medicine, education, health, human rights, business and many others.
JUST FOR AGES 50+: GROWN –UP SPECIALS.
This program is specially designed for people 50 years and over who would like to explore new cultures and give back to societies abroad. There would be a variety of activities such as teaching and catering for children in deprived communities.
COMMUNITY PROJECTS
This program is specially designed for volunteers to help provide support for some issues facing some communities abroad. Volunteers could help with charitable projects in the communities.
